Uluru is located in central Australia and is just under a 4 hour flight from Sydney. Ayers Rock, or Uluru, is one of Australia's most identifiable icons.  The large sandstone rock formation lies in the Uluru Kata Tjuta National Park and the Ayers Rock site is considered sacred to the local Aborigines. The rock's colour changes spectacularly with the sunset, gradually turning to a deeper shade of red before fading into grey and blending into the night.
