Option 1 - Cairns
Cairns is located in tropical Far North Queensland and is approximately a 5.5 hour flight from Sydney. Cairns has been voted as Australia's most liveable regional city where you will find the climate warm all year round. Cairns is a great base to explore lush tropical rainforest, cosy villages and to access tropical islands and the world famous Great Barrier Reef.
Day 1 - Cairns Michaelmas Cay Day Reef Cruise
Set sail aboard the 32 metre luxury sailing catamaran, Ocean Spirit, for a day to remember to Michaelmas Cay - a low lying vegetated sand cay encircled by a spectacular fringing reef, a National Park and a protected sanctuary for migratory seabirds. Snorkelling is a great way to experience the Great Barrier Reef, with easy access from the beach at Michaelmas Cay the waters are ideal for the experienced or novice snorkeller. Take a cruise on a semi-sub, seated just one metre below the waterline, you will get a diver's view of the reef without getting wet! The tour to Michaelmas Cay includes lunch.
Departs from Reef Fleet Terminal at 8:30am
Returns to Reef Fleet Terminal at approx 5:00pm
Day 2 - Cairns Kuranda Tour
Today you will be picked up from your accommodation and transferred to Kuranda, a mountain village near Cairns. Your first stop is at Tjapukai Aboriginal Cultural Park where you will be met by your indigenous guide to show you through the Park and provide demonstrations on bush food, didgeridoos, fire making and the famous Tjapukai Dance Troupe. A short distance from Tjapukai is the Skyrail Rainforest Cableway, once onboard you will be amazed as you glide silently over the rainforest. There are two stations where you can alight and enjoy a walk through the rainforest to spectacular lookouts. You will then arrive at Kuranda Village where you will have free time to do your own exploring. Your final stop is to Kuranda Scenic Rail where you will board the famous train for an amazing journey, as you travel one of the world's most scenic rail routes through hand-hewn tunnels and over bridges spanning spectacular gorges.
Departs from your hotel 8:15am - 9:00am
Returns to your hotel approximately 5:30pm
